Farming

This weekend while in Wayne we spent some quality time on the farm. It was time to get the calves ready for the mountain. It all starts with separating the mom's from the calves. It is not just the image, but the sounds that make this so much fun. The cows mooing and the farmers saying "hey, ho" to get them go where they want them to.
Grace also came down for a little while and had a lot of fun watching the cows. The cows then go through a small "chute" just for practice. And then the real deal. Here they cut 'em, tag 'em and rubber band wrap 'em. Modern Day Cowboy
No wranglers or boots could be found in the bunch
But they worked just as hard, straight through their lunch
Getting cows ready, so everyone would know
When they come in the fall, to which home they would go

They separate the calves away from their moms
While running and jumping with “hey’s” and “ha’s”
When their done and gate closed, it’s time to move on
Wait, one more calf is hiding behind its mom

Their pressed to the corner like sardines in a tin
Then pushed in a row, they hate to get in
Stories are told throughout the whole day
“We used to jump ‘em, and hold ‘em, and cut ‘em away”

Then with a shock and a poke, the cow jumps in the chute
Then hurry, do your work, avoid the loose poop
The cow’s are no match for these burley men
They cut ‘em and tag ‘em and rubber band wrap ‘em

Let loose to the field, the work is now done
It’s a wonder to watch a father, and two sons
The work is a science after years of the same
Stories and laughter, and memories are gained

The four men who worked that day. And me with them too. It was so much fun and I love doing it! Then the next day, we headed to Loa to see uncle Jan schear his sheep. Grace loved watching them cut the hair in the trailer. Laughing with Grandpa Great! He is still out working every day. He is just an amazing man!Pie and Mom!Papa and Pie!Grace got a hold of the camera and took a few pictures. This one showed just how pretty the view was around so I had to keep it!Miles and Grandpa. Miles poking the sheep, telling them to go. Pie telling the sheep to go. Miles stuck with them for a while. He loved it! He was so cute!
Back in with the sheep. Grace sat on a couple. but felt much better in Grandpa's arms. Sitting on the fence, hanging out with papa. It was such a great time. I had so much fun-it was such a great thing for me to do and I want to go and help every year. Grace loved it too. She is quite a little farm girl at heart (although she has zero fear-which can be a bad thing). Love this whole weekend.

A little Family Time

We went to Wayne for the weekend to spend some time with the family. She was dressed and ready to head out.Grace loved Wrestling with her cousin Milos. And squeezing on her new baby cousing Finlee.Grace is really into the stars right now and loves looking at them and the planets and the moon. So Papa pulled out his telescope so she could see them close up. It was a rare night with 5 visible planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Uranis, and Mars) and very clear. When Grace first saw a planet she said "ohhh wow!!" When she first saw the moon she said "ohhh cheese!!" I laughed. Grandpa getting it set up. Tryng to decide what to look at next. Mom and Pie. Looking at Grace's star that is in the big dipper constellation. Grace also had a great time at Mimi's house. She wore this scarf around all weekend, saying it was her pretty dress. She said she was a princess and would twirl and sing. She would then bow and say "thank you, thank you, bless you" We laughed so hard. We had such a great time, and it was great to get to spend time with family and check in. Grace makes things so much more fun-and I am so blessed she is mine!

Horsie

I caught this picture today over my shoulder. I was giving Pie a horsie ride and she was laughing. I love it!!!
She is really loving horsie rides right now, including a bucking broco ride on Daddy's back. She laughs so hard. She loves to fall off on the bed and get back up.

How Tall?

I finally looked at Grace's height prediction today. The guess of doubling their height when they turn two. At her two year check up she was 35 inches. That would make her adult height 70 inches which is 5 ft 10 inches. She is a very tall little girl-maybe she always will be! Let's see if it happens. I guess the percentage is that there is a 68% chance she will be within 2 inches of this height and a 98% chance she will be within 4. We'll see!!

Silly Weather

Just two days ago we were at the park taking in the nice weather and annoyed that mommy was taking pictures again. And now we are in the snow making forts with our dad.
Strange Weather. Not sure it really felt like winter until now. We'll see how long it sticks (although I would be fine with a nice warm winter in all honesty) But I would miss cute pictures like these..

Papa and Grandma go Shopping.

I don't get it(maybe that is why I am not a part of it)-but Pie makes Art wear something on his head, and then they become papa and grandma and go shopping. Art used to be grandma until he finally convinced her to be grandma so he could be papa. They crack me up. They walk around talking and pushing a shopping cart. Makes me laugh-love that they have fun together.

Tea Party!

Grace wanted to do a tea party. So we did it all out. It was so much fun. She dressed in a princess dress. We had disney princess music playing in the background. She invited all of her friends and we had tea (slushies) in our fancy tea cups, pasta salad, celery and cheese bites, and of course tea sandwiches (nutella and jelly). She fed all of her friends and we both had to sing happy birthday to each other just for fun. She said we needed cake(as we do with every party) so we made peanut butter bars for dessert. I love this girl. She just makes everything so much fun!
So I didn't look so princess-like-but we had to get a picture together because we had so much fun!
