Poison Springs

On Saturday, per my mom's request, we went to Poison Springs to spread some of her ashes. It was a really fun amazing day, just as my mom would have wanted.   We learned so much and saw so many things.  My uncles Tom and Eugene took us out to show us the very best places.  We are so grateful that they came.  All of the family was invited but they were the only two who were willing to come and support my mom. (much the same as it was in life). We got to see many pictographs and petroglyphs both.

We hiked up to the big cave (supposidly where butch cassidy hid for a while)

Grace thought it was very cool and spent some time yelling in the cave.
 We found lots of lizards.

 And Frogs
There is a natural spring about half way down the canyon.
 The water was delicious

We played in the water looking at tadpoles and frogs.
We found an old carving of Butch Cassidy's name (18hundred something)
And a cool picture drawn in 1869
 We played in rocks.

And found this cool artistic work.
 We had some lunch.
And then a nap.  We had to hold the kids heads because the roads were so bumpy.

We found a ton of petrified wood.
We ended at the overlook of the dirty devil river.  What a beautiful view and a place we thought would be very fitting for my mom to sit and read a book.  She spent many years riding horses through these valleys and loved this place very much.  We could definately see why.  Good Choice Mom!
We circled up and told some very fun memories and then we let a few of he ashes fly into the wind-enjoy the view mom! We all love you!

We liked this cool pac man/frog face rock.
We went back to the springs and let the kids run and play.  This is where my mom camped as a kid. There used to be a small cabin but it has long since been lost.

The kids raced through the water.

And threw a lot of mud.
We then poked angel pins into a tree nearby in rememberance of our mom.  It was very cool for all of us and all of the grandkids.

Then we spread a few more of her ashes in her favorite place where she loved to camp. Even the kiddos helped here.  They were very particular about where they went and they said good memories and things about Mimi as we did it.

It turned out to be an amazing day.  It was very healing.  We had a lot of fun as a family and we are going to make it a point to continue to return to that place together.  We all loved our mom so much.  This whole process has been an extremely difficult but amazing experience.  We were able to share so many memories of our mom, spend time together with our families, and be in places that she loved.  We love you mom!
